In this variety cryptic crossword, clues a through t below each define three words: a three-letter word, a four-letter word (or, in one case, a four-letter phrase), and a seven-letter word. Weaving together the letters of the four and the three-letter words one at a time will give you the seven-letter word. For example, in the clue ”Alight before sage,” ALIGHT would give you “land,” BEFORE would give you “ere,” and combining the two would make “LeArNeD” (or SAGE). The three parts of the clue may be presented in any order. The placement of the 20 seven-letter words (in the shaded areas of the grid) is for you to determine. The Across and Down clues are standard cryptic clues.
